THE TERRIBLE TRAGEDY OF LUCIENKA

lienka2

My name is Lucienka. I am just eight years old. My parents are no longer alive. There is no one to take care of me. I live and spend my days on the streets of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I sleep under trucks, so nobody can find me.... The streets of Haiti are hard for kids like me, all alone. I once managed to escape to the Dominican Republic. But when I got there, people there were really mean. They beat me, used me for sex, and then they laughed at me. I felt like I did not exist... I eventually escaped and fled back to Haiti out of fear that these bad guys would find me. But it's not better here. People on the street often beat me. I often feel scared. When I get scared, I squeeze my eyes really tight and think of a better life, a place where I exist. Although oftentimes I doubt if it will ever happen.

Do people think that I do not feel? Do people think that I do not exist? Do you not believe that I deserve better?

Child Flower HELPS

childflowerHelpt

Child Flower is a non-profit organization that helps children like Lucienka who are victims of abandonment, rape, abuse and child trafficking. Once these vulnerable children are identified and placed in a safe environment, Child-Flower helps them to escape their horrible past, to be child to the fullest and to regain hope for a better future.

Would you give a child like Lucienka the chance to be child again? Make a donation right now and save a child like Lucienka!

What does Child Flower do?

Child Flower provides strengthening programs to children in vulnerable situations, helping them to gain strength in daily life. The programs support children in various areas of their lives: they teach them how to cope with their unfortunate past, how to recognize and express emotions, and how to build a positive, hopeful outlook for their future.

Many of the children that Child Flower works with, have suffered heavily from sexual, physical and emotional violence. Child Flower provides these traumatized children with the opportunity to overcome their inner wounds and to leave behind their pain, sorrow, humiliation and shame. We believe that they deserve and can build a happier life. Do you believe that these children have the right for a happy life?

The professionals behind Child Flower

Child Flower's programs are developed by child psychologists, in consultation with children who have experienced traumatic events or hardships. We help the children discover their talents, strengths and skills, which is essential for their positive development..

What happens when you help?

By donating a Child Flower to a child, you are providing a better life for these vulnerable children by giving them access to skills that are critical for their positive development:

  • Dealing with shocking and traumatic events: We provide traumatized children the necessary guidance and a place to process and cope with these shocking events.
  • Reinforcing a positive self-image and identity: We help kids to see themselves as a child, not as object. We help the children discover their talents and strengths.
  • Development of a larger social network: We assist children in building a social network, surrounded by people who they can trust and approach in a positive way.
  • Solving problems and communicating their needs in a non-violent way: We teach children the necessary communication and problem solving skills to help them grow into an individual who can contribute to a better society.

In addition, we give the child:

  • Help when in danger;
  • Child coaches and specially trained child workers that the child can trust and can count on through difficult phases and transitional phases in their lives;
  • A safe, child-friendly space to come into contact with other children;
  • Different games and creative materials that contribute to positive child development

The content of each Child Flower is adapted to the needs of each child individually.

Does Child Flower help children only?

alleenkinderen

No, Child Flower does not only help children. Child Flower understands that a child's close environment plays a critical role in developing the positive mental health of a child. Thus, Child Flower ensures the involvement of parents, relatives, teachers and educators in each step of our strengthening programs. The more parents and community members participate in these programs, the sooner we can discover and save children like Lucienka, who live in deep distress and who often remain invisible to the society.

HOW TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

We believe that Lucienka deserves a Child Flower. It will help her to regain strength in life, and provide access to a social network that will support her through these difficult times.

Do you agree that Lucienka deserves support and a better future?
